Terms of Service

1. The pilot

Veranda is an early-stage Slack translation service. During the current pilot, an eligible workspace receives a card-free trial that ends after 14 days or 100 successful translations, whichever occurs first. Pilot access is invitation-based, may be changed or discontinued, and does not include a promise of future paid availability. No payment information is collected through the production pilot.

2. Authority and accounts

You must be at least 18 and authorized to install or use Veranda in the relevant Slack workspace. If you install Veranda for an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms and authorize the described processing for that organization. You are responsible for workspace permissions, member notices, and lawful use of Slack content.

3. Acceptable use

You may use Veranda only for lawful workplace translation. You must not:

• use the service to violate law, privacy, intellectual-property, or contractual rights;
• submit content you are not authorized to process;
• probe, disrupt, reverse engineer, or bypass the service's security or trial limits;
• use the service to generate or distribute harmful, deceptive, or abusive content; or
• place credentials, payment-card data, government identifiers, health records, or other highly sensitive information into Veranda unless your organization has independently determined that doing so is appropriate.

4. Translation limitations

Translations are generated automatically and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for the intended context. Do not rely on Veranda as the sole basis for legal, medical, safety-critical, financial, regulatory, or other high-impact decisions. You are responsible for reviewing translations before acting on them.

5. Your content

You retain your rights in content processed through Veranda. You grant Veranda a limited, non-exclusive right to process that content only as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Veranda does not claim ownership of Slack messages or translations generated for your workspace.

6. Third-party services

Veranda depends on Slack, translation subprocessors, hosting, database, and other service providers. Their systems and terms may affect availability and data handling. Veranda is not sponsored by or affiliated with Slack or its translation providers, and those providers are not responsible for Veranda.

7. Support and changes

Support is described on the Support page. Because this is a pilot, features, limits, languages, and availability may change. When practical, we will give participating workspace contacts notice of a material change.

8. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Veranda and uninstall the Slack app at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe use creates security, legal, operational, or third-party-platform risk; violates these Terms; or if the pilot ends. Data will be handled as described in the Privacy Policy and Data Deletion Instructions.

9. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the pilot is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not promise uninterrupted service or that every translation will be correct.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Veranda will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption arising from the pilot. Veranda's total liability relating to the pilot will not exceed US$100. These limits do not apply where liability cannot legally be limited.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable rights you may have under applicable law.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service develops. We will post the revised version with a new effective date and provide additional notice for material changes when appropriate. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
